My drawings, with a mix of expressionistic marking, collaged scraps from fashion magazines and personal iconology drawn in, are my way of mapping my history- a diary of sorts.
I narrate using figures or iconic characters that live many times throughout my separate bodies of work. A character that is recycled and
re-purposed, may be resurrected next time as a member of the opposing team with
a new context.
The visual path of thought is something I value. I love inconsistencies. I love contradiction. Themes I visit many times over are the sacred vs. the profane, and the precious vs. the mundane. I draw to find my way to my paintings. I then paint to find my way back into my drawing.
